Therapeutic cleaning and some jazz
I was so bored today that I did household chores. Laundry, bedsheets, mopping the floor, cleaning the fan, and sorting out my books and CDs collection.
I put on Diana Krall, John Stevens and Dean Martin, and started jiving and singing while I mopped and wiped.
Cleaning is therapeutic!
It Takes 21 Days To Form A Habit
I was reading my past entries and came to For Beautiful Skin. I am surprised it has been 2 years since I started the water therapy.
My motivation then was to get better and brighter complexion. But months into the routine of drinking 2-3 litres of water a day, I got more than I hoped for.
Not only my (face) complexion was better, I noticed legs and the small of my back are less dry than before.

Bad Dream
I just woke up from a vivid dream. In the dream, I woke up from a nap in my old home, in my parent’s bedroom, and found my Audrey Hepburn poster (2007 birthday gift from the Hehs, made by Zz) in my bedroom, torn and disfigured.
I was devastated and started screaming, who did it, why. There were visitors at my place, but I couldn’t care less about being judged and continued screaming,...
An Allegory with Venus and Cupid
The picture is likely to be that mentioned in Vasari’s ‘Life of Bronzino’ of 1568: He made a picture of singular beauty, which was sent to King Francis in France; in which was a nude Venus with Cupid kissing her, and on one side Pleasure and Play with other Loves; and on the other, Fraud, Jealousy, and other passions of love. Venus and Cupid are identifiable by their...
200 Common Redundancies
How often have you heard a friend say something like this: “It was an unexpected surprise when a pair of baby twins was born at 12 midnight”? What is a surprise if not unexpected? What are twins if not a pair? Who can be born but a baby? When is midnight if not at 12? The expressions we use are full of redundancy. Your friend could just as well have said: “It was a surprise...
Tuition kid: *yawns* I slept late last night.
Me: Me too.
Tuition kid: Why? You went to pub ah?
Me: *laughs* No, I had trouble falling asleep.
Tuition kid: Oh, maybe you can try counting sheep.
Me: Do you do that? Does it work for you?
Tuition kid: No, I don’t count sheep.
Me: So what do you count? Mangoes? (his favourite fruit)
Tuition kid: I think about all the TV shows I...
Paolo Veronese - Allegory of Love
During my visit to National Gallery, I saw Paolo Veronese’s series of four paintings- ‘Allegory of Love’. Each painting depict with the following, ‘Unfaithfulness’, ‘Scorn’, ‘Happy Union’ and ‘Respect’.
I couldn’t find notes on each of the paintings on the Internet, which is a shame. From the little of what I remembered of...
Giving Homework To Myself
While job hunting, it is easy to succumb to Bummerism and choose to do nothing at all.
Doing nothing = Wasting time. And you don’t really want to waste time and youth like that.
There were times I slacked, and I had to shake sense to myself and get off that little lazy ass.
So what I do now is to stick to a proper office hours, wake up (at the luxury of 30 minutes later since...
New Milestone
From a regular 1.5km jog last year, to 3km…to 5km… to 6km….
I hit my new milestone of 7km last night! *triumphant smile + fist pump*
Timing wasn’t ideal as I was running with weak knees, but I’m happy with my improved stamina. Time to do some training to strengthen the muscles and knees!
My Mother, My Friend
One of the things I envy about my mother is the number of sisters she has (5 of them!) and the strong bond between them.
Mum’s birthday is coming up, and as usual, my aunts will gather and have a celebration of sorts over a meal together.
This year, mum mentioned she would like to bring my aunts to Victor’s Kitchen for Dim Sum. I brought mum there a couple of months ago and she...

During this funemployed period, I’ve been visiting the library on a frequent basis. I select books from a list of either highly raved classics, or highly raved authors.
Some books, I couldn’t get past the first 4 chapters. I tried, but they just don’t engage me (despite being highly raved).
I guess connection with books is pretty much like connection with people.
It...
Aw. What a heart breaker.
Stranger In The Night
In the dead of the night, someone opened a can. The blunt scrapping of thin metal in speed of a blinking eye. The sound was crisp, resounding, cutting the peaceful silence of the night.
I was lured to my window, curious and stirred. I stood quiet, conscious of my breathing. And waited. For another hint of that stranger who drinks. 5 seconds. Two dry coughs.
Silence.
A couple of cars purred...
Heartbreak
I was tidying my desktop and documents for hours and lost track of time. When I glanced at the clock, bam, hello it’s morning. Good game. I begin to wonder if my night jogs contribute to my wakefulness during the wee hours.
I was browsing the web, clicking on links here and there, and stumbled upon a blog.
A second degree friend.
The latest and last entry is so sad, my heart crumbled a...
*Cough cough*
Just when I recovered from a 2-week cough shortly after Christmas, it came back to bother me again.
Coughing a lot worse than before. I haven’t even been taking much cold drinks.
I’m frustrated with my state of health. I sleep a good minimum 8 hours a day, and jog every other day. My body clock is gradually adjusting to GMT+8.
Still.
I bought a box of Chinese herb-based cough...
Reviewing 2011
Same old, same old line. How fast time flies. Time to review our report cards to see how we fared for the past 12 months.
Keeping a blog/ diary is good, because most of us think we have a better memory than we actually do. I tried to remember events and milestones that mattered to me, and here’s what I’ve compiled under ‘notes’ on my iPhone.
Not exactly in chronological...
